In a year with so many good games getting released, we sure had our share of disappointing experiences, but thankfully they were few and far between. They were some of our most anticipated releases of 2025…
Winner: Blue Prince
It’s hard to top Blue Prince in terms of disappointment this year. A game I’ve been following along holding back my excitement and anxiety to play only for it to completely fall flat to me when it came time to review it for the site. The base idea is brilliant but it’s the execution that stumbles in its delivery, and while it’s commendable to see such an ambitious project coming out from a very small team, it was hard for me to overlook its many faults which far outweight what all the inventiviness that it’s got going for it.

Runner Up: Atomfall
Rebellion’s big swing for 2025 is by no means a bad game, but it surely could and should have been better. The UK setting is unusual and charming, but Rebellion’s lack of experience with even light RPG mechanics and first-person combat is evident. Their Asura engine is also not ideally suited to this kind of game.
